MARA - Molecular Analytical Robotics Assays
In the FET Open H2020 EU project, three radically novel technologies will be developed that will lead to substantial breakthroughs
in science, medicine and industry. As proof-of principle, we will use them to create a DNA-based molecular toolkit characterising pathogens.

Goals: 3 radically novel technologies
Autonomous Detection Nucleic Acids (AUDENA)
The first and most feasible objective of MARA is the development of a novel class of single stranded DNA probes that comprise an aptamer-like structure for target detection and a DNAzyme for signal reporting (Fig 1).
DNA Structures emulating reactions of proteins
The second objective is the creation of self-assembling DNA origami structures that emulate the
reactions of proteins.

Molecular Robot
(MORO)
The third and most ambitious objective in the MARA project is the development of a tiny (100 nm) molecular drill that can specifically identify target cells and destroy them by altering their osmotic system.
